Can You Use Rosehip Oil Under Eyes?

Can You Use Rosehip Oil Under Eyes?

Can You Use Rosehip Oil Under Eyes?

As long as you exercise care when applying rosehip oil to your face, yes, absolutely, you can use it under your eyes!

It’s down to its natural qualities as a nourishing moisturising agent, and because it’s so packed with nutrients (including antioxidants, Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential fatty acids, and Vitamins A, C, and E), that so many people use rosehip oil on the skin of their face, including around the eyes.

As an oil that is easily absorbed by the skin, but which leaves no feeling of greasiness after it’s been applied, rosehip oil is a very common ingredient in popular facial moisturisers, and is generally accepted to be perfectly safe for use on the skin under and around the eyes.

Why is your under-eye skin so sensitive?

The skin around your eyes is very sensitive; just look at the puffiness and dark circles (or bags) that develop if you oversleep, feel tired, or burn the candle at both ends! It’s one of the most delicate areas of skin on the body, with skin being particularly thin and fragile, so deserves particular care.

As you age it’s perfectly natural to get crow’s feet or wrinkles around your eyes, as well as smile lines (sometimes called laughter lines) at the corners of your mouth, and while it’s not possible (or even desirable!) to eliminate these lines completely, rosehip oil can certainly help soften them.

Rosehip oil is an excellent remedy to soothe, hydrate and deeply nourish those telltale dark circles, either on its own or (as we do in our Rosehip Scar Oil) blended with lavender and other oils for extra effectiveness.

Why rosehip?

Rosehip oil has two particular qualities that make it perfect for under-eye use.

  1. It’s chock-full of wonderfully effective natural nutrients that are extremely beneficial to skin tissue regeneration! These nutrients are fantastic at supporting the hydration, regeneration and nourishment of dry or delicate skin.
  2. It’s anhydrous (water-free), so it doesn’t require the synthetic or alcohol-based preservatives that conventional eye creams do, but which can so often trigger irritation on sensitive skin. The area around the eyes is particularly susceptible to these flare-ups, so a natural oil can be a better choice than conventional water-based creams.

Better or worse can only ever be a conclusion based on personal preference, but it’s pretty clear that dabbing on a few drops of naturally nourishing rosehip oil every day is an excellent way of treating the skin under and around your eyes!
