How To Get Rid Of Waxing Rash On Your Face During Lockdown

You’ve been stuck at home for weeks already and are getting frustrated at not being able to visit a salon, so try a DIY wax... Or you want to wax your face but your usual products aren’t available so you use what you can get your hands on - to disastrous and painful effect…

If you’ve done an at-home facial wax to rid your upper lip of hair and have ended up with a burning, bumpy waxing rash, what can you do?!

Well, the good news is that time will solve most waxing issues! The rash will calm down eventually and your face will recover. But in the meantime, here are some simple steps to follow to soothe the soreness.

  • Wash the area with lukewarm water & a gentle unscented wash, to remove any irritant ingredients you might be reacting to.
  • Wash VERY CAREFULLY! Don’t rub or scrub at your face, even if it’s itching like mad!
  • Hold a cold compress to the area for five minutes.
  • Pat dry with tissues, a paper towel or a soft face cloth.
  • Apply a fine layer of oil-based balm (such as Skin Salvation) over the area after drying.
  • Do not use fragranced products on your face for the next week
  • Do not use products containing ‘active ingredients’ for the next week either!
