Looking For An Over-the-Counter Radiation Burn Cream That Doesn't Sting?

Skin Salvation OTC cream for radiotherapy burns

If you’re wanting to find a cream that doesn’t sting on super-sensitive skin after radiotherapy, here are a few important things to remember.

What to avoid

Find a balm (rather than a water-based cream) that is as free as possible from known skin irritants while your skin is so sensitive, even common ones that you might find in high street toiletries. These include:

  • Fragrance/Parfum/Perfume
  • Parabens
  • Sulfates
  • Phenoxyethanol
  • Polyethylene Glycol
  • Glycolic Acid
  • Salicylic Acid
  • Retinol
  • Alcohol
  • Strong essential oils, ie citrus, lemongrass, cinnamon, ylang-ylang
Skin Salvation: a perfect balm for sensitive skin

Skin Salvation is free from all the potential irritants listed above, and is also free from harsh synthetic preservatives.

It’s an oil-based balm rather than a water-based cream, so is much less likely to sting on application. The oil and beeswax work to soothe and protect damaged, fragile or super-sensitive skin from further irritation, providing a breathable but waterproof layer over the epidermis.

It’s also rich in the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and EFAs (Omegas 3, 6 & 9) that your skin needs to regenerate and repair itself. Regular application of Skin Salvation works a bit like a vitamin supplement for your skin, feeding it with nutrients over a period of time.

If you want something lighter than a balm for your hands or face, try one of our three shea butter-based creams, all of which work very well for skin affected by chemo:

Daily Moisturising Cream

Intensive Hand Cream

Cooling Cream
