Treat Yourself To A Skin Salvation Smoothie

Skin Salvation smoothie

Here's a brilliant way of getting that hemp seed goodness in your diet as well as on your skin!

This recipe could be seen as edible Skin Salvation, full of the goodness of hemp seed, and free from ingredients that are most likely to trigger flare-ups.

Just like its namesake Skin Salvation, this smoothie is designed to nourish the skin, but from the inside out, instead of outside in!

Hemp is incredibly rich in protein, vitamins, minerals including zinc, calcium, phosphorous, magnesium and iron, amino acids, as well as essential fatty acids Omegas 3 & 6 - and it’s also one of the very few edible sources of anti-inflammatory GLA, which is excellent for eczema-prone skin.

The turmeric turns the smoothie a gorgeous sunshine yellow and is renowned for its anti-inflammatory and immune system boosting properties.

You can make the smoothie vegan if you swap out the honey (representing our Skin Salvation beeswax!) for maple syrup.

RECIPE:

3 dessert spoons of raw organic hulled hemp seeds
1 dessert spoon of locally produced, raw honey (or maple syrup)
3 dates
A sprinkle of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of ground turmeric or a small (half cm) piece of fresh turmeric root, chopped up
One or two ripe bananas, according to taste (if you freeze the banana overnight, it makes the smoothie even creamier)
One cup of oat milk (or other milk of your choice)

Add all ingredients to the blender and whizz until smooth. (If your blender isn’t powerful enough to grind the hemp seed finely enough, you can soak them in a little water or oat milk for a few hours first.)

Just pour into moulds and freeze for a smoothie lolly!
